Rescuers Give An Unforgettable Month To This Dog With Facial Tumor

Serenity, the cute husky, was four years old when she was taken in by Patti Dawson, the head of the Dallas Dog Rescue Rehab Reform charity based in Dallas, Texas, who took over the dog’s care after rescuing her from a San Antonio shelter.

Serenity has Chondrosarcoma, an incurable facial tumor that damaged her face. Her nasal cavity was invaded by a malignancy that progressed to his eye sockets and skull.

Even the constant suffering couldn’t keep this gorgeous husky from displaying her personality to the rescuers, who noticed all of her beauty.

Patti Dawson took up Serenity’s care as soon as she rescued her. She stated to WFAA.COM: “She went straight to an oncologist, internal medicine, and a critical care expert for a full study.”

Dallas Dog Rescue Rehab Reform was founded to aid in the process of rescuing stray dogs in South Dallas, but it has now evolved into more of a sanctuary for dogs with little chance of adoption.

Patti is a special education teacher who has always had a strong desire to assist those in need, as she explains:

“I hate to say it, but the unwanted. They are the most tough ones. Those are our specialties… I knew we’d battle to the death to do all we could to rescue her because she still had life in her.”

Patti decided to call animal photographer Renee Dowhaniuk and create an exquisite picture shoot with the time she had with Serenity. They focused on showcasing the beauty of the husky in each image, and the lady who has photographed many shelters stated that the spirit of Serenity was something special.

Renne continued: “That little girl, as soon as we got her out of Patti’s truck and put her on the ground, her nose started working and her tail started moving.”

Serenity’s photos quickly went viral, and after putting them on her Facebook page, Patti received over 300 assistance packages of all types.

She also stated that she received a lot of criticism after the publishing of the photographs, with many people expressing their desire for her to be sacrificed in order to relieve her pain, but Patti remained focused on making her happy.

Unfortunately, Serenity’s condition was advanced, and after an unbelievable month with her rescuers, her struggle with her illness was over. Dallas Dog Rescue Rehab Reform revealed the heartbreaking news on her Facebook page; her disease was advanced, and despite medical attempts and palliative care that extended her life, the loving husky is now in a better place.
